**In honor of New York Spring 09 fashion week, which is taking placing in Bryant Park this week, I'm doing my dutiful job and previewing all the shows. I've rounded up a few micro-trends that have stood out to me so far, and this week I'll be posting them here and at Neu Black for your enjoyment.**
They say that opposites attract ("they" being overbearing parents, well-meaning friends, yentas, and match.com), and nowhere is that sentiment more apparent than in Bryant Park this week. Though there were plenty of literal spectral opposites (black vs. white) to be seen, there were also two opposing ideals incorporated in blissful unity in shows from Chris Benz to TSE. While many designers seemed content segregate their sandy neutrals and poppy brights, many chose to use clever snaps of fluorescent blues, corals, and yellows to augment their more subdued palette. The result, as expected, is a match made in Heaven.
